Azizi in Space

Azizi Gibson is a rap artist that I have loved for a few years now. He’s an underground artist who gradually became more popular recently. He is very creative when it comes to his style and his image. His music video for “Smoking With The Gods” displays a creative way to incorporate animation into a music video. The animators did a great job of capturing the essence of being in space and creating a story to go along with the song. It is one of my favorite music videos to watch. I hope that in the future I will be able to create videos as intriguing and entertaining as this one. 

Graphic Animation in Music!

Now, I am sure everyone will remember this song. The song is a bit of a throw back but the music video is worth mentioning now! Feel Good Inc. by the Gorillaz!
The band the Gorillaz, are a strictly animated band. It was an idea created in the late 1990's by English musicians Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. The band was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records for best virtual band!
This very different but captivating music video left its mark in my head back when I saw it on MTV's "TRL."
Yes, the song is great and yes the music video is a little weird but I like the use of graphic animation to convey the message of the song via music video. Overall the virtual band idea, I think, is graphic animation genius and so is this music video!

Some trippy animation - Blockhead

A couple years ago on new years eve in high school, all my friends were passed out around 4 in the morning and I was still wide awake. We had adult swim on and they were showing some pretty weird videos. The program was titled “Off-Air” so they were all pretty random. One of the videos that was shown was this music video for the artist Blockhead. This animation blew my mind at the time, but I had no idea what it was. Finally with a lot of searching on google, I found the video. One thing I really admire about this video is the animation goes with the beat of the song. It really bothers me when music videos don’t follow the beat, it throws me off for some reason. Anthony Schepperd did a great job of doing this, with his use of a variety of colors and shapes. He did this video in under 5 months and only used Flash. He has other amazing animated videos, check out his vimeo if you’re interested!
