Finding Dory

So everyone knows or knows of Finding Nemo. A story about a lost little fish who get captured by a fisherman and put into a fish tank at 42 wallaby way Sydney Australia. His dad Marlin, must go on an adventure to find and rescue Nemo. Along the way, Marlin meets and unlikely friend named Dory, a blue fish with a short term memory problem. She lost her memory into all of our hearts and was one of the most memorable characters in the film. And coming next year, there is finally a film to do her justice. Finding Dory is coming out in 2016 and I could not be more amped! Ellen Degeneres is going to reprise her role as the funny, and heart warming fish. The film is sure to be hilarious and touching and I am going to see it the minute it comes out.

While thinking of some movies and television shows to rotoscope myself into, I took some time to look for some examples and inspirations. This is Freddie Wong's spoof trailer of "Twilight: Eclipse". I found that he did a great job of fitting himself into the negative spaces of the film as well as weaving in some funny one liners between the characters conversations. Even the scene where he puts himself in the same bed as Bella and Edward, he did a pretty good job of editing himself in there. Not to say that there weren't some quirks to the video. At certain parts I could see the green screen feathering around Freddie, and at other parts you could tell that the lighting he used really put him out of place, but this is ten times better than what I will probably do.

I also watched Ellen DeGeneres' skit of the same idea. Although hers had a lot more practical effects, like rebuilding similar sets, but I think her editor did just as well!

Finding Dory: 2016

The sequel to the very successful Pixar film, Finding Nemo, will be coming out on June 17, 2016. It is about the friendly-but-forgetful blue fish, who learns things about the true meaning of family.

It is titled Finding Dory, and I am skeptical but looking forward to it.

Here is Ellen Degeneres, who voices Dory, announcing the movie on her show:

Zach King's Special Effects

Every once in a while over the past year one of Zach King's videos would show up on my newsfeed or I'd see it on Reddit. Most recently I saw him in a Pringles commercial and doing things on Ellen. What impresses me about that is that he started by posting vine videos. I think that in itself is an important factor when thinking about the future of media.

Some of his animations I can figure out now after taking the class but there are some that still have me stumped. If you go back to his early videos you can catch some slips but overall he does a pretty amazing job. Here is a compilation of some videos he has done over the past year.

Putting Yourself Into A Film...Like Ellen!

I'm not sure how many of you are fans of Ellen DeGeneres or her talk show, but I like Ellen, and therefore this post is about her.

One of the many segments that can be found on the Ellen Show features Ellen when she inserts herself into films, much like we're about to do for our final projects. Two such films she's done this with are Titanic, when it was rereleased last April for the anniversary of the sinking of the ship, and the other was last year for Twilight, Breaking Dawn Part 1. In typical Ellen fashion, she makes the scenes in which she inserts herself comical, and I really enjoy it when she does this.

I'm adding the videos to these two films for you. Enjoy!
