Chipotle's Animated Advertising

Chipotle has done a great job of creeping us out but also making us feel like they're the best choice for fast food with their "Cultivate a Better World" videos. The storytelling in "The Scarecrow" gets the point across without dialogue; rich visuals with an ominous and ironic soundtrack do the trick.

Chipotle took an emotional approach to advertising to appear as the virtuous fast food chain. An interesting fun fact is that McDonald's used to be the restaurant's largest investor. Now, however, Chipotle is often praised for this marketing technique. They vow to move away from factory farming and improve the way that animals are raised for meat, including eliminating the overuse of antibiotics. The animated videos also go along with an app that they have created based on the scarecrow's journey from the factory to something more "natural." Chipotle gives us a little more insight into what they wanted to convey with these videos below.

I think that one of their other videos, "Back to the Start" is also extremely adorable and although a bit simpler, still provokes the same emotional response. Willie Nelson's cover of "The Scientist" is pretty awesome too.

Commericals using Animation

As the end of the semester rolls around, final papers, projects and exam suck up all my time. This week post contains more interesting content than my own words.
I remember seeing these individual videos online or on tv one time or another and I thought they really nailed there purpose.
As with my usual posts here are a number of videos as examples for how corporations and various companies are utilizing various types of motion graphics and animation in advertising.

Love this one

I'd have to say this one is probably my favorite. It is simple, but complex at the same time. It doesn't take outrageous effects, but what it does use it is clean and stylized. I think this use of effects are my favorite kind. Subtle, effective and entertaining.

Midterms Hunger Can Lead to Weekly Blog Solutions (UPDATE: Now with Behind the Scenes!)

So this week is midterms here at Ithaca College. Studying, papers, long nights, and most especially: hunger. Since this week has started, I decided that after midterms on my way home I would reward myself with a delicious, succulent Chipotle Burrito. Oh dear, typing that even made my mouth water. Anyways, this video was made by Nexus Productions and directed by Johnny Kelly, who has worked on ads for Google, Bacardi, and Adobe. This video was done completely in beautiful stop motion and took over 4 weeks to make. It features the farm-loving Willie Nelson covering Coldplay's "The Scientist" which can be purchased on iTunes with 60 cents from every purchase going to the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation.
