Title Sequence Professionals

To those who work in media production, it comes as no surprise that many aspects of a production may come from different production companies, especially things like the products' marketing videos and title sequences. Even now in our class we are making title sequences for some of our favorite shows and movies. One of the heavy hitters of the title sequence market in the industry today is the production company Imaginary Forces.

The creative heavy weights that work for Imaginary Forces have been responsible for some of the most iconic title sequences in the industry, perhaps most recognizably the sequences for the movie Se7en, and the AMC series Mad Men.

Imaginary Forces has also produced the title sequence for shows like Chuck, Boardwalk Empire, Person of Interest, the HBO series Band of Brothers and The Pacific, movies like Pacific Rim, 500 Days of Summer, and countless others. Spirited Away Trailer High Quality

Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away is easily one of the best animated films of all time.  Within the first five minutes you wouldn't exactly understand why its dubbed as such, the graphics are simple and the characters are average looking but as the story goes on the simplicity is what makes the movie so pure and beautiful. Miyazaki purposefully made this artistic choice claiming that he didn't want the animation to "steal the show"and although they had a very vast knowledge of the software necessary to create elaborate animations the animators mostly animated the characters by hand ( the good ole fashion way).  I personally can't imagine the movie any other way. There is something so raw and unadulterated about Miyazaki's style that perfectly fits the theme of the movie: the journey from childhood to adulthood.

This trailer does not do the movie justice in the least bit, but I recommend you watch it if you haven't already. It is an absolutely beautiful story.

Britanick

I know this has nothing to do with motion graphics, but it's late in the semester and I'm kind of running out of ideas.  So instead, I'm going to show you a video made by BriTANicK (Brian and Nick).  They both went to NYU and made use of their college degrees by making videos for youtube.  It is pretty astonishing how many people break into the industry through webisodes and other online videos.  Although it definitely worked out for them, Brian recently starred alongside Charlize Theron in Young Adult and Nick will be appearing in a show on MTV and in Louie.  The video below is a parody of stereotypical movie trailers, but if you have 15 minutes to spare, you could also check out their thesis film Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses (it's kind of ridiculous, but stick with it).  I recommend watching some of their other videos, they're short, but really funny.

For some people, media sharing websites like YouTube become their job.  If they have enough views, they can get money from advertising on their channel, product placement, promoting their band or comedy, and appearing on panels at conventions.  I guess all we have left to do is become amazing at motion graphics, get YouTube famous, and pay off all our student loans.
